But it's DONE :D
my life is starting to be interesting again.

I saved it as an A5 pdf,but the printer didn't like it for whatever reason. (Which is kind of weird, because I had initial problems last year - but NOTHING of this scale.)

Maybe next comic, when I have more time and testicles, I will cut-and-paste and do the comic all properface so I can get some bleed going on and have the print shop photocopy it all instead of bossing them to just print it. Who knows what fascinating adventures we will have?

Doujicon is still on this weekend. Come say hello and things.

dot dot dot seepyrambleslongstory
- Still working on that comic, reaching the finish line. Mostly because of ridiculous printing costs, I'm thinking of splitting the thing into two smaller books. There's only really one coherent place I can split the story, which would mean the first book would be 12 pages long (bumping up to 16 to allow for the cover) and the second book a whopping 10 pages (which would also probably bump up to 16 for cover and bonus content). The split would really be to allow for cheaper selling costs - I have a quote for about $3.50 per 28-page book from the local major printshop, which sounds kind of like an assraping. I'd like to be able to sell this honey fairly cheap, too. So maybe I'll just have to keep asking them til they give me an answer I like because sure it's bound to work sooner or later right?

- On that note, I think I've taken too long working on it, because I'm starting to get tired of drawing issue one. Thankfully, I'm done with all the pages - now there's just minor corrections, toning and, er, lettering. Which still takes less time than actual drawing, eek! I think there'll at least be a second issue too, even if only for my own personal writing pleasure. The darn thing still doesn't have a title, either. I think I will default it to Sweet, because it's much simpler than calling it the Presently Untitled Notgen Mimu Project. Although that's kind of fun too.

I just rubbed my eye and pulled out some sort of cottony-silky-thing. That's a little freaky.
I'm having trouble thinking straight and pencilling more stuff (inking, on the other hand, seems to be a strangely easy thing) so here, have more comic pages while I pretend to be useful.

Continuing from this page in the last-last post

Rest of the scene under the cut )

On that note, have a peek at [info]circusvargas's adorable Koala and Snake comics. Does anyone else, despite knowing that the little bear is a koala goddamnit keep unintentionally calling it a panda? No?
Well to heck with that, the cute thing fibs anyway.

more comics-procrastination: obsessions of the now
Love Roma. Very sappy and adorable and simple comic by Toyoda Minoru, and eek it is wonderful. First picked up the first volume back in SG out of interest and now I must collect the whole series - his writing is very simple and brilliant and I love his characters and how he manages to put so much fun detail in his sometimes simple art. (Playing Hunt the SCD in some of the chapters is great fun) Have also been studying his panelling techniques with great glee too.
I'm not looking forward to reading all the stories because then it means I won't have any more to read...but oh, I will re-read and re-read the volumes until they wither away in confusion and vanish and then I will cry my eyes out because I have no more Love Roma.

Princess Maker 5. Still. I've been playing this game for a while and am yet to actually finish a game...although I thought I was going to today. (insert dum de DUUUUUUUM horror fanfare)

Okay, so normally with the Princess Maker games, you play until your daughter's 18th birthday and then you kick your sweet child of 8 years out into the Big Bad World and read about what happens in the papers. (Unless you marry her, then I suspect you hear about her day every day, only not really because you're just paying attention to her breasts or something.)

So I reached my daughter's 18th birthday (she's a November baby) with a bit of motherly concern and...nothing - she just kept going. Hell, she's got a Christmas dateplanned now. And her planner is still working and ready til March of the following year.

CUE THE WORLD ENDING. I can't find anything about it in the manual but admittedly my Chinese is not great. I'm not sure if I need a patch or the game plays til (what I presume is) the end of the school year, but I'm going to keep playing til I get bored because I've been meaning to start a new character soon. Although the game does take, um, quite a while to get through. But at least there's no fricking PM2 Dance Competition scene.

Well, at least I can gripe at myself.
Preview of a comic I'm working on! Hoping to get this done in time for Doujicon. If not, damnit, I may just print out what I have (which is *currently* about 10 pages and that's about halfway, so I'm not doing TOO badly) and be done with it.

Working working working. Random time!

still playing Princess Maker 5 while pretending I'm practicing my literary-Chinese and Japanese-dialogue-listening skills. Good god this game is pretty fun. But my daughter has F-cups and how what how did she get F-cups D:

this song feels like a key, but i can't quite spill out the feelings into tangibility
I have emails and posts and things to reply to and dozens upon dozens of awesome 24 hour comics to read. Now that I've admitted all that, I've just earned myself a couple more hours of guilt-free ignorance.

It's a really, really lovely day outside. Cold but sunny and pretty. Went outside for a walk, but didn't quite know what to do with myself so came back in. I have work to do anyway - lots of work and not quite enough inspiration. Still, we'll manage somehow! (that's as much an optimistic declaration as it is a desperate cry for help to the currently unforgiving inner bitch that is doing nothing but giving me headaches. Can't they at least be hallucinatory headaches?)

The vineythingonnastick outside my window is dancing a bit, which is only a little freaky. When it's not dancing, it's ...it's shivering like mad, which is creepier. Go back to dancing, you silly little thing.

OKAY WE'RE DONE PONYUP

I had a small panickout when I thought I had somehow managed to miscount the number of pages I did but no I had just forgotten completely about one and hadn't coloured it. Which is not a lot better. I tried copying Mark and coloring just about every page and I failed. I'm not sorry. Just giving the new guy some glory, y'know? Absolutely.

Still, funnest comic in an age!

this year, I did the least pages and slept the longest I have over a challenge. I also ran the closest to over time. Which means no more sleeping allowed. Evar.

Space Opera Romance a-go!
I think this is the first time I've slept more than 5 hours on a 24 Hour Challenge. This is AWESOME. Mark has been consistently churning out awesome because he's a jerk. We're both on the home stretch - I'm redrawing one of my pages and getting to colouring the rest.
Coloring page 16 has kinda taken it out of me, but I got prolly two more to go then I can call it a day. Goddamnit!

Melbourne I love you, but you're doing my head in.
So I'm back from Singapore (although not *quite* yet ready to face some outstanding emails or ever-growing devwatch), and it was a whole lot of fun although completely exhausting. Although that's partially to blame on an equally exciting week sightseeing in China.

whew.
Tonight, I fly back to Melbourne. It's such a nice and cool day out today (although probably not nearly as cold as Melbourne's weather), and I'm going to miss Singapore again. This trip was fun, but I spent most of my time either run off my feet or curled up into a sad little feetless grumpy ball of unwell.

Lots of fun and silly and strange things have happened. I kind of feel like writing now, but I'd rather go enjoy my time here by chatting with people I probably won't see again for months.

rambly notes before bed
- Don't You Evah is my happy song right now and I realised it when Harley was awesome and played it for me a couple days ago. I feel sort of cheered up (which is depressing in itself) when I listen to it and get to pretend I see Robbie dancing about in an adorably shameless manner. ...then again, a few Spoon songs are cheering me up right now.

- Hoping tomorrow will go well. Going in optimistic. [info]circusvargas thinks I'm going to turn into Roz, the grumpy slug secretary from Monsters Inc, while working there, and I'm totally with him - by the end of the week, I'll be going in with heavy smoky eyes, a heavy smoker's raspy voice, old lady glasses and the most awesome pointed beehive ever. (possibly with real bees to do my wicked bidding. Ohhhh, that would be awesome.)

- Creepy grabby lady at the station today. In future, I won't give money to the creepy lady with the neckbeardy whiskers no matter how sorry I feel for her at first. Perhaps more later. (Mom's right though, she pointed out to me that I'm likely to spend more on a handout than on my own food. Huh. It's okay, but it kind of makes the asking for more like a bigger kick in the teeth.)
